Korean Poem "Because the Wind Blows" By Yu Gye-yeong

Because the Wind Blows

                     By Yu Gye-young

Even the whiskers blew—from the teapot to the teacup
The stream of water at noon, about to fall, blew onto my trousers
A hat blew over the hat
Hair, so neatly arranged,
Drowned inside my eyes and mouth
"The wind is blowing; shall we go out?"
The memo paper where I meant to write that blew away first

I was reading a story about a village where a madman lived
But the person labeled "mad" was the only one who looked sane

A fairy flew in through the window—a fairy who mistakenly believed herself to be a swordsman

Confusion, chaos, drowsiness, crossed signals
Why do I find myself chuckling weakly?
